  L2 directs Advantage Tutoring Services (ATS), a supplemental education service provider authorized by the New Mexico Public Education Department. ATS offers tutoring in Reading and Mathematics after/before school and on weekends through certified teachers trained in effective instructional strategies and guided by valid and reliable assessment data. ATS is built on sound education research and supports the New Mexico Reading First initiative.  
     
  ATS offers two models for providing supplemental services:  
       
  • Typical Model: Students are tutored by a teacher from a higher performing school. Only in special cases of geographic isolation will a student be tutored by a teacher from his/her own school.

In-house Model: ATS provides professional development in Reading to all staff members, as well as ATS tools and resources—at no charge to the school or district. Following tutor training, teachers serve as tutors in their own school. As a result, students have the dual benefits of tutoring services and classroom instruction delivered by a better prepared classroom teacher. If a minimum number of students enroll for services with ATS, additional professional development for the entire school staff will be provided at no cost.
