Professional development is the process through which educators gain knowledge and enhance understanding about their roles and responsibilities, leading to improved practices. L2 believes that sustained and systemic professional development is necessary to achieve long-term improvements in the learning environment for students. For professional development to be effective, participants must have opportunities to examine and reflect upon current practices in light of desired outcomes, study research-based models for reform, and engage in strategic problem solving to address identified needs. The effectiveness of professional development is determined by the degree to which concepts are embedded in daily practices and behaviors.
